OVERVIEW:
Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Planning & Monitoring is a critical aspect of any organization’s development programs. It involves taking into account the social and cultural differences that exist within a community, and considering the ways in which gender and social inequalities affect different groups of people. GESI Planning & Monitoring aims to ensure that development programs are designed and implemented in a way that is inclusive, equitable and sustainable for all members of the community.
The importance of GESI Planning & Monitoring cannot be overstated. Development programs that are not GESI-sensitive can have unintended consequences, such as exacerbating gender and social inequalities, perpetuating discrimination and exclusion, and leading to a lack of trust and participation from marginalized groups. Conversely, programs that are designed and implemented with GESI principles in mind can have a transformative impact, leading to greater equality, social inclusion and sustainable development outcomes.
GESI Planning & Monitoring is a complex and multifaceted process that requires a range of skills and expertise. This is why training in GESI Planning & Monitoring is essential for professionals from development organizations. Such training equips professionals with the knowledge, skills and tools they need to design and implement GESI-sensitive development programs, and to monitor and evaluate their effectiveness.
